The mood : Tavira in the evening, Portugal

In Algarve in August you know you’re gonna do most of your exploration in the evening. It’s that long wait before the sun finally cools down and it’s nice to wander (which is not unlike the wait before being allowed to go swimming after a meal, back when I was a child).

Tavira has all the quaint charms of a rather sleepy seaside town: the faded parasols piling on old cars, the adorned kiosks, the pastel balconies, the mom and pop stores and the quiet boats passing under its central bridge. It should be full of tourists, yet it’s not, maybe they’ll come or maybe they have already, ten years ago…

You might want to perfect that evening stroll with a good meal at Bistrot O Porto, Largo Dr José Pires Padinha, 180.
