Ortygia might be of a blinding white, giving sometimes the feeling that there are no shadows there, with all the immaculate buildings on display facing the turquoise ocean and the Sicilian sun. That makes the small public garden quite an intriguing place. In a scenery that's all limestone and plaster, nature's apparition is a mysterious one. The long silhouettes of the lianas are a reminder that despite the all-white streets, Africa is way closer than Greece.
