Wanderlust : apartments in Venice, Italy


Combing through a seemingly infinite list of rentals is one of the most tedious aspects of planning your holiday. You generally end up seeing so many horrible places that you even find yourself wondering why you wanted to go there anyway. I sometimes spend hours doing that and I thought I might share with you the fruits of my labor, so that you can watch season 2 of Halt and Catch Fire instead of spending evenings hooked to airbnb! This is the list of apartments I had my eyes on when we went to Venice last June.

Passer en revue une liste infinie d’appartements à louer est vraiment une des tâches les plus laborieuses lorsqu’on organise un voyage. On finit généralement par voir tellement d’horreurs qu’on se demande ce qui a bien pu nous donner envie d’aller à cet endroit en particulier. Je passe parfois des heures à chercher un endroit qui me plaise, aussi, plutôt que de garder ces recherches pour moi, j’ai eu envie de vous en faire profiter un peu, histoire que vous puissiez tranquillement regarder la saison 2 de Halt and Catch Fire plutôt que de perdre des heures sur airbnb! Ci-dessous une petite sélection des appartements que j’avais repérés à Venise.

The immaculate one

This one is for those who are a bit perplexed by the idea of having too much of that Venetian gold. This might even been the only all-white apartment of the city! The effect is rather nice but unfortunately this Scandinavian touch comes at a price.

Blanc ou rien

Une option pour ceux qui ont des réserves sur l’idée d’un séjour baroque de bout en bout. C’est peut-être même le seul appartement tout blanc de la ville ! Le résultat est plutôt séduisant, mais malheureusement cette touche scandinave se paye cher…

The refined classic

Venetian, but not too much. Muted colors, nice furniture, gorgeous terrazzo floors and a modern bathroom, this one has a lot going on for itself. The neighbourhood has a nice potential too, that part of San Marco is much more quieter than the center. 

Le classique raffiné

Vénitien, mais sans trop en faire. Demies-teintes sophistiquées, joli décor, sol en terrazzo typique et une salle de bain toute neuve, celui-là a pas mal d’atouts. Le quartier a aussi du potentiel, cette partie de San Marco est plus calme que le centre ultra-touristique.

The arty option

I love the modern italian design meets Palazzo look of this one. High ceiling, faded pastels and an impressive custom staircase made it look pretty unique. Oh, and of course there is that giant terrace. Just saying.

L’option arty

J’adore le mélange design italien+palazzo de celui-ci. Très haut de plafond, avec un escalier sculptural et une gamme de pastels fanés, il a vraiment un look unique. Et puis, il y a bien sûr cette incroyable terrasse…

The farm-meets-palazzo

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this one. It looks like some pared-down romantic loft, has a garden and is pretty vast. Almost too vast maybe, I sort of got intimidated by the space and wondered if it was going to be a bit cold?

Le classique raffiné

J’ai trouvé celui-ci assez irréel quand j’ai vu les photos. Il a une allure de grand loft épuré et rustique à la fois et s’ouvre sur un jardin. L’espace très vaste  m’a cependant un peu intimidée et je me suis demandé si ça n’allait pas me sembler un peu vide…
