Vesak Poya is the celebration of Buddha’s birth,it’s usually in May and lasts for a week or so. People come from all over the country to celebrate in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. The all town is decorated with buddhist flags and paper lanterns. Most of the shops are closed for the occasion and people stroll around the lake in their Sunday’s best.
