Road trip : the scenic road to Panormitis, Symi, Greece

You know how it is with those tiny Greek islands, sometimes you get tired of that beach-harbor-ouzo routine (how awful of me, I know) and you just want to see something new, get yourself some exploration time!

Well in the case of Symi, this might just mean going on the other side of the island (we’re small time explorers without a driver’s license and it’s sizzling hot, remember), to Panormitis and its monastery.

And guess what?
Once again, it’s not so much about the destination, but about the journey.

The road to the south, full of grandiose twists and turns, with the opalescent sea everywhere will surely keep you on the edge of your seat and remind you of the tumultuous volcanic past of this part of the world.

You can go there by bus, taxi or scooter, it takes approximately half an hour. I would suggest early or late to get the best light.
