In situ : by the river, Kyoto, Japan

Do you need any more proof of how sweet spring in Kyoto is?
A crystal clear river runs through the old neighborhood of Higashiyama, in the East of the city. It is crossed by tiny bridges and simple footbridges and pretty much entices you to never leave its side. Have a picnic, lie under the warm sun, watch the water shine and dip your toes (yes you can actually do that) and happiness is guaranteed.

___________

Of course, such a bridge with no security barrier whatsoever would be unthinkable here in France. It seems that the urge to jump around and hurt yourself isn’t such a big concern there.
Another Japanese town, another river.
