The detail : Secession staircase, Vienna, Austria

Vienna, like Paris it seems, hides away a lot of its treasures. There is a tiny Japanese restaurant called Kuishimbo near the Naschmarkt, the kind that is so small that the restrooms are in the next door building. But don't complain about the inconvenience yet, because the splendid staircase amply makes up for the few extra steps.

The Vienna Secession is a turn-of-the-century art movement whose most famous member was Klimt and whose style is often synonym with supple yet structured lines.
