Feels special : Royal Botanical Garden, Kandy, Sri Lanka

If you can’t get enough of Sri Lanka’s exuberant vegetation, this is the place for you.
It’s actually a little bit more friendly than say “in the wild” (yes, leeches, I’m talking about you), and you also get to see a sample of other faraway exotic specimens. It was for us the occasion to wonder what kind of horrific wildlife Brasil must have to have that many scary-spiky plants. But that’s a scare for another day! There it was more about a delightfully peaceful stroll through the leafy lanes and the lush greenhouses, spying on the occasional monkey and marveling at every little crazy patch of vegetation.

Kandy is the cultural center of Sri Lanka, you can see more pictures of the town here.

Can you believe I never went to see this place all three times I travelled around Sri Lanka? Kandy city being such a crowded, commercialized bustle, I would never stay there long enough to explore it properly, taking off to beaches and forests and even war-ravaged places instead. There was no escaping the leeches though. Three of them latched on to my feet in Ella, hoping for a free ride. Yeah right!

Love the look of your blog. Will be back for more! 🙂

@TheScuttlefish Thanks for the message! I guess we were lucky visiting Kandy during Vesak Poya, that way the city felt more like a cultural hub than a commercial one 🙂
Ah those leeches…I’ve been suspicious every time I step foot on wet grass ever since!
